Haiti is the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere with 80% of the population living below poverty level. Children under the age of 18 constitutes 50% of the 9 million inhabitants of Haiti. 50% of children age 5-17 do not attend school due to their parents lack of finances and/or availability of effective academic schooling. Imagine waking up in the morning wondering if you will have a meal today. That is what life is like for most Haitian people especially the children. There is no real economy and definitely no jobs. Most people only make 1 or 2 dollars a day. For less than a dollar a day, you can change the lives of many children with education, daily meals and medical care.
